Who we are
Who we are
We’re a not for profit organisation working to boost financial inclusion. We’re here to make sure that everyone has access to the right financial products and services, whenever they need them.
We were set up in 2019 through the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). Our core funding comes from The Dormant Assets Scheme which makes it possible for money from forgotten bank accounts and other financial products to be used for good causes.
Our vision
Is a society where the long term financial wellbeing of all people is supported by a fair and accessible financial services sector
Our mission
Is to increase the financial resilience and wellbeing of people in vulnerable circumstances by increasing the availability of fair and accessible financial products and services
We believe financial products can and should serve everyone
Everyone needs access to financial products to go about their daily lives, manage their money and be economically active. Yet millions of people are currently unable to access the financial safety nets others reply on, like insurance, savings and credit.
Right now, the financial system is designed for people with predictable lives and incomes. Yet more and more people are living with insecure jobs and unsteady incomes.
The right financial products can transform lives, benefit society and boost the economy
Financial exclusion is a key barrier to wellbeing, security and prosperity. It’s particularly felt by people on low incomes, in left behind communities and from minority ethnic groups.
Fair and affordable financial products help people smooth their incomes, meet unexpected costs and avoid harmful alternatives. This builds resilience, helps people thrive rather than just survive and can unlock growth and opportunity across the country.
Financial inclusion is the responsibility of the whole financial services sector
As demand for fair and affordable products and services grows, supply to those most in need is shrinking. The needs of millions of people aren’t currently being met by the industry.
It doesn’t have to be this way. With the combined skills of the whole industry, government and regulators, financial exclusion can be solved. And we’re here to bring people together to make that happen.
