Monevo and Infinian datasets on borrowers’ characteristics and their ability to access credit
Our Credit and Consumer Markets Lead Niall Alexander sat down with Sheraz Afzal, Legal, Risk and Compliance at Quint Group to talk about new credit application data from Infinian and Monevo, containing and analysing millions of applications over recent years.
The findings are based on real world data and show that while traditional variables like age and housing tenure remain relevant, it is an individual’s income that has emerged as the most critical factor in credit offer rates.
Notably, this analysis tells us that individuals with the lowest incomes have experienced an alarming drop in credit access, while higher earners have maintained consistent access. This suggests a stark disparity in the credit market, particularly for smaller loan amounts often needed for essential expenses, as demand remains steady for higher income households but supply dwindles elsewhere.
