Credit Union Transformation Fund – Consultation launch

Credit Union Transformation Fund – Consultation launch

In late 2025, Government released the National Financial Inclusion Strategy. In the strategy, Fair4All Finance were named as delivery partners for a bold credit union transformation programme, in order to build a stronger, more resilient and more inclusive credit union movement across England.

Working with Government, regulators and sector partners, and backed by £30m of dormant assets funding, we will launch a Credit Union Transformation Fund, to help credit unions scale sustainably, modernise technology, collaborate regionally, and better meet the needs of the millions of people currently excluded from affordable financial services.

Our purpose

Financial exclusion is increasing, and as an organisation we are committed to improving outcomes for the estimated 20.3 million people living in financially vulnerable circumstances.

We view credit unions as one of the most strategically important mechanisms through which England’s national financial resilience can be improved. And we are aligned with the sector’s Credit Union Growth Plan to double the number of people using credit unions by 2035.

Government has prioritised action. Launching the Credit Union Transformation Fund creates a time limited opportunity to drive systemic and sustainable growth in the sector.
