Applications are open for credit union leaders including Chief Executives, Board Chairs and other senior leaders to join the Credit Union Transformation programme Advisory Group.
The programme aligns to the Government’s Financial Inclusion Strategy, and aims to support the doubling of participation in credit unions by 2035, while strengthening financial resilience for underserved communities.
Fair4All Finance is working with stakeholders across the sector to deliver the Credit Union Transformation Programme, supported by up to £30 million of dormant assets funding. The programme’s ambition is to support the systemic change demanded in the Credit Union Sector Growth Plan, helping to drive growth, strengthen sustainability and increase participation in credit unions.
A key part of this work is ensuring that Programme priorities and decisions are informed by the practical experience, leadership and insight of the sector itself. Therefore, Fair4All Finance are seeking applications to join the newly established Credit Union Transformation Programme Advisory Group. The group will provide strategic advice, challenge and guidance throughout programme delivery.
The Advisory Group will bring together representatives from across the credit union ecosystem, including government, regulators, sector bodies and other subject matter experts. It will play an important role in helping to shape priorities across areas such as:
- Regional collaboration and consolidation
- Shared services and CUSOs
- Technology and digital transformation
- Product development and financial resilience
- Governance and leadership
We are keen to attract applications from a diverse range of credit union leaders, including Chief Executives, Board Chairs and other senior leaders who can bring a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.
We are particularly keen to ensure that the Advisory Group reflects the breadth of the sector and welcomes applications from leaders representing different organisational sizes, operating models and experiences.
Membership is expected to involve quarterly meetings, primarily online, together with occasional participation in thematic working groups or subcommittees where relevant.
This is a unique opportunity to help shape one of the most significant sector development initiatives in recent years and to ensure that the perspectives of credit unions remain at the heart of programme delivery.
The Expression of Interest document (download) provides further information on the role, application process and access to the draft Terms of Reference.
The deadline for applications is 9am Monday 19 October 2026.
Anyone who would like an informal discussion before deciding whether to apply can contact us at credituniontransformation@fair4allfinance.org.uk.
