The Oversight Trust has set up a panel to carry out the second independent review of Fair4All Finance. We are inviting stakeholders who are interested in contributing to get in touch with the panel and share their views.
Background
The Oversight Trust is responsible for overseeing the companies that have received funding under the English allocation of Dormant Asset monies including: Better Society Capital (BSC), Access – the Foundation for Social Investment, Fair4All Finance and Youth Futures Foundation. Each year we commission a review and report on one of the four Operating Companies (in turn) with a view to assessing how effective they are in achieving the mission they were set up to deliver.
This year we are launching the second Quadrennial Review of Fair4All Finance, and we want to hear what you think. (The first Quadrennial Review of Fair4All Finance, published in January 2023, can be found under Publications on our website.)
Reviewers
The Panel set up to perform the review comprises:
- Keith Leslie
- Magdalene Bayim-Adomako
- Sarah Forster
The Secretariat for the Review will be provided by William Brackwell.
The Review Process
Over the coming weeks the Review Panel will look at Fair4All Finance’s key achievements and consider strategic issues where it believes further attention may be required for sustained success.
The Review Panel will approach many stakeholders directly, and all interested parties are invited to respond by providing input to the process in writing. Responses received and any subsequent interviews with participants will be treated in confidence and not shared with Fair4All Finance.
The Panel would be interested in hearing your experience of working with the organisation and/or your views on how successful Fair4All Finance has been in addressing some of the key areas that it has identified in its stated mission.
Fair4All Finance’s Mission and Vision
Fair4All Finance was founded in 2019 to increase the financial resilience and wellbeing of people in vulnerable circumstances. It does this by using a range of tools – from grants to investments to research and policy influencing – to grow the supply of fair, affordable and appropriate financial products and services.
Millions of people in the UK are locked out of the financial products most of us take for granted. Access to affordable credit, savings, insurance and everyday banking underpins financial resilience, helps households
absorb shocks and supports wider economic growth —but the market does not yet serve everyone well. Too often, people in vulnerable circumstances pay more for financial services, or cannot access them at all.
Fair4All Finance believes that financial services should work for the people who need them most. That means products that are fair, affordable, designed around customers’ real circumstances, and available at scale.
It focuses on:
- Underserved people and communities – ensuring fair financial products reach those who need them most.
- A stronger community finance sector – investing in and supporting affordable credit providers, credit unions and CDFIs to build their capacity and sustainability.
- Systems change – By convening, researching and working with government, regulators and mainstream finance, it is reshaping the market so that it delivers better outcomes for people in vulnerable circumstances.
Fair4All Finance wants to see a society where the long-term financial wellbeing of all people is supported by a fair and accessible financial services sector.
